Ya esta disponible la version BETA de lo que será dentro de algunas semanas el lanzamiento definitivo de Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex. Esta version es solo apta para experimentar y colaborar con su mejoramiento para el lanzamiento final, no se recomienda instalarla como estable. Sus caracteristicas principales son:
– GNOME 2.24
– Nautilus con pestañas
– File Roller con soporte para archivos ALZ, RZIP, CAB, TAR.7Z
– X.Org Server 7.4
– Kernel 2.6.27
– Directorio privado cifrado
– Abrir una sesion como invitado
– Network Manager 0.7
– Posibilidad de recuperar la entrada del ultimo arranque exitoso
– DKMS
– Samba 3.2

Es la última versión de Ubuntu Ultimate Edition, 1.80. Esta distribución es basada en Ubuntu Hardy Heron, incluyendo gran cantidad de software y aplicaciones.
Esta es una distribución ideal si lo que necesitas es un robusto y completo sistema con todo tipo de software a la mano. Se centra en la productividad, ya que no necesitas mayor tiempo para instalar la mayoría del software que necesites, ya que este viene precargado.
